This article explains, how to proceed when we provide you with mqxliff-files to work on a translation.

Info

This will only happen, Use this process only if you cannot connect to our server with your own memoQ desktop application for any reason whatsoever. Disadvantage of this procedure is that you have no TBs and no TMs at your disposal from usYou will not have automatic access to the project-related term bases or translation memories! These will be provided by us separately.

Creating a local project

If we hand out a project in the form of bilingual mqxliff-files, you have to import them in a project that was created in your own memoQ desktop application.

In the project creation window it is important to : set the respective source and target language.

Note

If the selected source/target language differ from those set in our project, you will not be able to import the files sucessfully! (E.g. source language "German" is "German" NOT "German - Germany/Austria/etc."

If you are unsure about the exact language variant, please ask back with PRODOC!

Creating your own translation memory

After project creation, you can create your own translation memory and import the TMX file we have provided you with.

In your project home you can find the translation memories tab.

Under New term defaults it is recommended to set the Matching default to Fuzzy. This guarantees higher occurence of the terms even in conjugated form (e.g. close, /closed, closing)

Via the Import terminology button you can browse for the CSV file provided by us.

Export

After you have finished your translation, simply select the files and export them in mqxliff-format.

Please export the file with the mqxliff extension instead of compressed format (mqxlz). There are continuing problems when importing mqxlz files into memoQ.
